When naming your file for the first time, it is advised that you do not exceed 100 characters. This is because Windows has restrictions on the length of a file name and path names that exceed this length will cause issues when trying to access the file through CaseWare Working Papers.
- Ideally, try and make use of abbreviations and client codes as this will lower your character count, and optimise functionality. Avoid using any special characters with the exception of hyphens, as script errors may occur.
- Also, please note that when naming engagement files you should make a habit of including the year end reporting date within your file name. This will not only make it easier to identify which engagement you are working on, but will also eliminate the occurrence of a common error which happens when more than one engagement file shares an identical name.
