This feature only applies to IDEA Network Concurrent users.
You can only check out a commuter license while you still have access to a Network License Server (NLS). Commuter licenses remain active for a designated duration (120 days maximum) or until they are checked back into the NLS.
When off-network usage is no longer required you must connect to the NLS and check in your commuter license. Once your commuter license is checked in, you will continue to use IDEA with a network license.
On the Home tab, in the License group, click Manage.
The IDEA Licensing dialog box appears. Optionally, you can also access the IDEA Licensing dialog box from the File tab. Select File>Options>Licensing>Manage license
Select the IDEA Network option.
Click Check Out....
The Commuter License dialog box appears.
In the Commuter license duration field, enter the number of days (1-120) you need to check out a commuter license.
Click OK.
You are returned to the IDEA Licensing dialog box. A progress bar appears that lets you see the commuter license check out progress. The License Status is updated to display the commuter license expiry date.
Click OK.
On the Home tab, in the License group, click Manage.
The IDEA Licensing dialog box appears.
The License Status displays the commuter license expiry date, the IDEA Network option is selected by default, and the Network License Server drop-down list displays the machine on which you checked out the commuter license.
Click Check In....
A progress bar appears that lets you see the commuter license check in progress.
Once the check in process is completed, click OK.
The License Status now displays the expiry date of your IDEA Network license.
