How to upload documents into CaseWare Cloud- A Contacts Perspective.

Use CaseWare Cloud as a secure files repository. You can upload documents from your local drive to Cloud and then share them with other staff or contacts.

For the purposes of this article, we will underline how to upload documents as a Contact. Firstly, in order to upload as a Contact, you must be assigned the Entity Collaborator role. To read about how to assign roles in Cloud, click here

Accessing the Files App

The Files App is a secure document repository for managing and accessing your files. This is where you will upload your documents.

From the home screen, you can access the Files App from the dropdown menu.

Selecting an Entity

Prior to uploading a file, you must specify which entity you will be associating it with. Selecting the appropriate entity is important, not just for management reasons, but also because clients and contacts can have varied and limited permissions to specific entities, meaning the work must be in the correct entity for them to view it.

File Upload: Drag & Drop Method

One approach to uploading files is the drag and drop method. To upload, you simply drag the desired file into the files screen as shown. This can be most useful when the contact has multiple files to insert from an open folder.

File Upload: From the New button

Alternatively, a contact can upload a file via the New > Upload option.

This will open the below screen which allows the contact to select their files through the browser, and also gives them the option to use the 'advanced uploader' tool. The Advanced Uploader tool should be used for files larger than 1GB. For more information on the requirements needed to utilise Advanced Uploader, click here.

Uploading into a folder

You can upload files into a specific folder by selecting a folder from the side bar. This will open the view below. You can then proceed with either of the methods listed above.
