Optimiser 4: Notes to the Financial Statements Overview

Optimiser 4: Notes to the Financial Statements Overview

The Notes to the financial statements optimiser provides the following:

  • automation to specific note disclosures where alternate wording is required

  • efficiencies to specific note disclosures by having one central data entry point, pre-populating multiple locations within the same note

  • filtering to specific note disclosures to only display what is required

The optimiser is broken up into the following note categories:

  • Revenue

  • Assets

  • Liability

  • Equity

  • Other

The visibility settings assigned to the note optimiser questions are the same as those assigned to the respective note in the financial statements. This is to ensure consistent behaviour between the two.

To use the Notes to the financial statements optimiser, follow these steps:

  1. Click the Notes to the financial statements optimiser.

  2. The questions in the optimiser are made up of the following types:

    1. Have a default response assigned

    2. Require data entry

    3. Require a selection to display additional disclosures

  3. Each question in the optimiser is linked to a specific note in the Notes to the financial statements.
For example: Property, plant and equipment

Note: There is no ability to navigate directly from the optimiser question to the note disclosure in the financial statements.

  4. To change a default response to an optimiser question:

    1. Unclick the default button selection

    2. Click the preferred button response. Note: A signoff with the initials of the person making the selection will appear to the right of the button.

    3. Open the financial statements, and navigate to the note, to view the selection change.

  5. The optimiser questions that require data entry, include input cells next to each description.

    1. Enter the required text into each cell

    2. Open the financial statements, and navigate to the note to view the data entry text in the note.

  6. The optimiser questions that allow for additional disclosures to display, have a default count assigned.
For example: Revenue and other income > Disaggregation of revenue from contracts with customers

  7. To add additional disclosures:

    1. Unclick the default button selection

    2. Click the preferred button response

    3. Open the financial statements, and navigate to the note, to view the additional disclosures.
