One of our
challenges as an auditor using audit system, is the ability to visualise the
relationships between the key elements identified within our engagement file.
Constellations
is a visual diagram that enables users to visualise the relationships between
the key elements identified in an audit engagement. By using various views of
the data, all members of an audit team can review the critical data.
Constellations allows users to navigate through the knowledge accumulated in
the audit engagement file, such as the FSA, Risks, Controls and Reportable
Items information. Traditional methods are structured so the auditor
accumulates this information across a number of forms.
Constellations:
- Changes the way an auditor completes a risk based audit by
providing a powerful tool to visualise the relationships between financial
statement areas, risks, controls, and procedures so the auditor can identify,
assess and respond to those risks that have the potential to materially affect
the financial statements.
- Constellation’s filtering ability provides auditors with an
overview of all the data and then allows them to zoom and filter the key
information that the auditor needs to focus on at any phase in an audit
engagement.
Constellation
enables the auditor to produce a more efficient and more accurate assessment of
the data accumulated during their audit. It also helps the auditor meet audit
documentation standards of their risk assessment.
The constellations
can be viewed in three different layouts which are shown in the figures below:
Figure 1 -
Standard view
This layout
organises nodes and connects associated areas using lines. Hovering on a node
will highlight the relationship.
Figure 2 -
Node Group View
This layout
organizes nodes and associated areas into clusters.
Figure 3 -
Sorted Group View
This layout
displays all nodes sorted into groups and connects associated areas using
lines. Hovering on a node will highlight the relationship.
