When customising your Xtend firm template, it is important to note the difference between creating a query document versus creating a query template.
While they function and look much the same on the firm template level, the key difference is seen on the engagement level. Take the Request for Information document as an example. It is a standard query document created in the firm template, and as such appears in the documents page of each engagement. All query documents in the firm template will show within all new engagements.
A query template however, is created in the firm template, and is then stored in a library so that when a new engagement is created it does not flow through automatically. It becomes an available option when the user selects to add a query document in the engagement.
The benefits of creating a query template are that the user can make individual queries for a range of different industries/ sectors without bringing all of them into each new engagement. It is also a one time process, and saves the user valuable time when working on an engagement, as they can simply select from the already built query templates instead of building a new query document from scratch each time.
