Xtend Query Notifications

Xtend is a popular Cloud-based app that is used by auditors to collaborate with their clients. The queries feature within Xtend is a powerful tool that facilitates this collaboration. To help you get the most out of collaborating with your clients, we’ve created a summary of the notification system in Xtend.

Staff Notifications

The notifications a staff member receives in Xtend are as follows:

A contact selects Mark all responded on a new or reopened query

An email saying a contact has marked the query as responded. Which contact responded is recorded.

Staff members subscribed to the query or those subscribed to the global notification

A contact selects Mark all responded on a query with returned items 

An email saying a contact has marked the query as responded. Which contact responded is recorded.

Staff members subscribed to the query or those subscribed to the global notification

A contact comments on a query question

An email displaying the comment and with a link to the comment in the query

The preparer and reviewer of the file

A contact replies to a staff member’s comment on a query

An email displaying the comment and with a link to the comment in the query

Any staff member who has previously commented on the question 

A staff member replies to a staff member’s comment on a query

An email displaying the comment and with a link to the comment in the query

Any staff member who has previously commented on the question 

Note: the global notification referred to is ‘subscribe to all actions performed by contacts’, which can be enabled in a user’s personal settings. 

Example of a notification:


Tip: Within CaseWare Cloud settings, an option can be enabled by staff members with Administrator rights, to include information such as the names of people, files, and communications related to the content, in email notifications. This setting can be turned on for staff members, contacts, or both, but is global and will apply to everyone in the selected group.




Contact Notifications 

The notifications a contact (client) receives in Xtend are as follows:

A staff member sends a query to a contact

An email with a link to the query saying that an activity has been assigned

Any contact that has been added to the query

A staff member returns items in a query

An email with a link to the query saying that an activity has been assigned

Any contact that has been added to the query

A staff member reopens a query

An email with a link to the query that says it’s been reopened 

Any contact that has been added to the query

A staff member responds to a contact's comment on a question

An email displaying the comment and with a link to the comment in the query

A contact who has commented on the question that the staff member is replying to. If more than one contact has commented, the notification goes to the most recent commenter
